Steinhatchee & Fourth of July
As you know from reading this, we went scalloping in Steinhatchee, locals pronounce it STEENhatchee, for the 4th of July. Scalloping is fun and something that I am good at. To be honest, anyone that can hold their breath, dive underwater and pick something up would be good at it. But that is besides the point.
We watched the city’s fireworks from my father’s boat. They did them off the bridge into town and they must spend their entire yearly budget on fireworks because they were surprisingly good for such a small city. After that we did our own…

…and when we were done, this moth flew over and Maya got to hold it.

I read on another site that it’s pronounced st-eye not st-ee…

That other site was showing how the poster WANTS it to be pronounced based on the spelling. The locals, however, say Steenhatchee. The poster on that other site LOVED it when they said STEENhatchee. It was his favorite thing.

From now on Longwood is pronounced Long-WAD. Because I live here I am right. Suck it.

I love it when people pronounce Deland (deh-land) like dee-land. It makes me feel like I am a farmer.
